Studying in Türkiye
Are diplomas from Turkish universities recognized internationally?

What is the language of instruction in Turkish universities?

Do I have to speak Turkish?

If your home university has a bilateral agreement with a Turkish university, you’re an Exchange or Erasmus+ student.
If you apply independently or your university funds your stay, you’re considered a Special Student.
How can I apply as an exchange student?
You must first be nominated by your home university. Then, submit your application to the Turkish host university. Contact your university’s international office for guidance.
My university has no agreement with any Turkish university. What can I do?
You can apply as a Special Student, either independently or through direct institutional arrangements.
Can I transfer credits to my home university?
Yes, but ensure your course selection is approved by your home institution prior to arrival for smooth credit transfer.

What are the admission criteria for Turkish universities?

What are the application deadlines?

Will I receive an orientation program?
Yes. Most universities—especially private ones—offer a detailed orientation week to help international students settle in. You’ll receive information about registration, transportation, ID cards, and residence permits.
What kind of support do International Offices provide?

Visas & Residency
Do I need a student visa?
Yes. Once you receive your letter of acceptance, apply for a student visa at the nearest Turkish consulate. After arriving in Türkiye, you must apply for a residence permit within 30 days.
Can I use a tourist visa instead?
Although some students enter on a tourist visa, it is not recommended. Tourist visas are short-term and may not cover a full semester, nor do they permit long-term residency or employment.

Can I work with a student visa?
