Balıkesir University is one of the most prestigious public universities in Turkey. Its roots date back to the Karesi Teacher School established in 1910 and later evolved as an extension of Uludağ University’s Faculty of Education in 1982. Balıkesir University was officially founded in 1992 and has since undergone significant development. The university aims to enhance development and quality of life both nationally and locally in the city of Balıkesir by training individuals committed to social values and by producing knowledge and technology that benefit society. Located in the city of Balıkesir in northwestern Turkey, south of the Sea of Marmara, the university is situated in one of Turkey’s most beautiful regions, known for its lush green landscapes and scenic coastline. With approximately 37,000 students, Balıkesir University is recognized by the Turkish Council of Higher Education and is also accredited in many Arab and European countries. Admission to the university does not require entrance exams; a high school diploma is sufficient. The university operates with 13 faculties, 4 graduate institutes, and around 12 vocational schools. The main campus spans 11,908 square meters and includes a Technopolis zone focused on technological development and innovation.
