After you get your acceptance, the visa and reception team will contact you and help you get your visa and start your studies in Turkey.
On average, students should expect to spend between $1,000 and $1,500 per month to cover housing, food, transportation, and personal expenses. Renting a shared apartment typically costs between $400 and $700, while monthly groceries and meals add another $250 to $350. Utilities and internet usually range from $80 to $120, and public transportation with a student card is about $20 to $30 per month. Students who choose more central or modern housing, or who prefer a more comfortable lifestyle, may see their total costs rise closer to $1,500 or more.
Students can take electives outside their main faculty, including interdisciplinary options in law, entrepreneurship, and design. However, course clashes and quota limitations are common, especially in English-taught electives, so early registration is essential.
International students are given priority during dorm placements, especially for the fall semester. However, due to high demand, securing a spot isn’t guaranteed. Alternatives include nearby private accommodations like Turk Hostel, which offers various room options with amenities such as central heating and fitness centers.
Students who do not meet the English proficiency requirements are placed in the English Preparatory Program. If, after completing the program, proficiency is still not achieved, students may be transferred to equivalent Turkish-medium programs, subject to availability and specific regulations.
Scholarships are typically awarded for the standard duration of the program. To maintain them, students must meet academic performance criteria, such as maintaining a certain GPA. Failure to meet these requirements may result in the reduction or loss of the scholarship.
The university offers considerable flexibility, allowing students to choose electives across different faculties and even change majors, provided they meet the necessary academic requirements and obtain approval from relevant departments.
